About me

Hello and welcome! My name is Heather Domeier and I am a Portrait Photographer based in the Twin Cities, Minne-snow-ta. I grew up in a small town called Forest Lake, about a half hour outside of the Twin Cities. While I have worked in the print and design industry for nearly a decade, photography is my true passion.

At my core I am an artist, I love to create! Whether I’m snapping a photo, creating a painting, writing poetry, or playing guitar – creating art is in my blood. Photography came to me at a time when I needed it most, it was like walking right into what I was born to do. It feeds my soul, inspires me and makes me feel alive. I bring joy and true passion to what I do, with an addiction to perfection – and chocolate! Starting out as a fine artist, I fell in love with the creative process. I then went on to study graphic design in college and started working for a printing company right out of school. I began taking pictures to bring texture into my design work and stumbled upon my new found love of macro nature photography.

My style and approach is simple, bold, classic, and true. My greatest talent would have to be the ability to get nervous subjects to relax and have fun in front of the camera while capturing those perfect moments. I’m drawn to people with an edge, and especially people that want to help me create something interesting and beautiful. I love creating art, and with photography I feel that it lets me fulfill the need to create by capturing these memories that will last a lifetime. It is the best feeling in the world when you hear how much someone loves a photo you’ve created, and that they’ll cherish that moment in time forever. When you view that image, it can instantly transport you to that exact time and place and bring back the feelings you were having at that very moment – all from looking at that one image, and to me that’s a very powerful thing!

But enough about me, I want to get to know you and capture who you are! You’re not just a number or photo package. I’m not about filling up my calendar with “shoots”, but days I get to create art with interesting people and having a blast doing it! When you can do something that you’re passionate about every day, that is a gift, and I would love to share my gift with you! In my eyes photography is about the experience and the stories, not just about the pictures. The stories behind the images we create together are what makes the images so powerful.
